Development Accountant (w/Real Estate Accounting experience)

The Development Accountant, under the direction of the Accounting Manager, will be responsible for day-to-day and month-end accounting functions, as well as participating in preparing quarterly reports, bank reconciliations, journal entries, payables, construction draws, budget maintenance and other accounting functions for the Development Accounting Department. The successful candidate will have prior experience in the Real Estate industry. 

• Responsible for both Multi-family and Land development accounting projects
• Prepare and book invoices, journal entries, monthly equity/construction loan draw requests submitted to variety of lending institutions, monthly/quarterly/fiscal year financial reporting
• Work close with Development team to review job and budget maintenance
• Reconciliation of balance sheet, general ledger, and Job Cost accounts to supporting reports
• Prepare Monthly bank and loan reconciliations
• Track all Land sales and Cost of Goods Sold schedules
• Review HUD Settlement statements for lot take downs purchased by home builders and the booking of all settlements and distributions
• Prepare supporting schedules for year-end/audit reporting
• Ensure that all accounting for development properties is done in accordance with GAAP, company policies, tax regulations, and compliance with contract terms

• Demonstrates ability and interest to develop strong analytical skills
• Minimum of 2 years Accounting experience is required
• BA or BS Degree in Accounting/Finance required with knowledge of GAAP
• Must have Accounting experience within the Real Estate industry
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Great communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Strong ability to work under pressure independently or in team environment
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience with Yardi is a plus
